Live in Nevada. The oleander bushes have gone crazy. Can't even see out the windows.

Oleander can be cut back in the fall. Depending on where in Nevada you live and how cold your winters are. Nevada has climate zones of six, seven and eight.





Always cut your branches at an angle. If you cut straight across you can damage the Oleander. Oleander is similar to a Hibiscus shrub, and should be pruned back before the first frost.

Reply:Believe it or not Oleander is one of those bushes/trees that can be trimmed almost anytime of the year. They are so hardy and hard to kill. Most plants the ebst time to trim is in the late spring or early Fall, but this type can be trimmed almost anytime except for the dead of winter...
Reply:Oleanders are evergreen shrubs that can be pruned basically anytime of the year. The best time is when they are not in bloom; so now is one of those times. Cut back to desired height and let the spring flush it with new growth and produce the desired look. In Nevada wait till March or April to feed with a good balanced plant food that is high in phosphorous which produces blooms and fruit on plants. Follow manufacturers recommendation.
