I like fiction, historical fiction, author Tom Robbins, Dan Brown. Favorite novels inculde Kite Runner, Memoirs of Geisha, White Oleander
Recommendations on novels?
If you enjoy mysteries set in historical times, check out some of the titles by Anne Perry. I'd also recommend the Brother Cadfael series by Ellis Peters.
Another good source of historical fiction is nearly anything by Jean Plaidy--it was, frankly, some her works that stimulated me to delve into historical fact!
Happy reading!
Reply:King Fortis the Brave!
Reply:Death of Vishnu by Manil Suri
Reply:Try Agatha Critie's books and even The Da Vinci Code and Anglels and Demons would be appreciated by U
Reply:The Glass Castle and The Memory Keeper's Daughter were the last two books I read and they were awesome. If you liked White Oleander you should enjoy The Glass Castle. Have you tried Gregory Maguire. Wicked and Son of a Witch are awesome. Confessions of a Wicked Stepsister and Mirror Mirror are pretty great, too. There is also a book by Judy Blume for adults called Summer Sisters that I enjoyed reading as well.
Happy searching and happy reading!
Reply:try "Like water for chocolate", it is a book about love story, blended with tyranny of family tradition. In addition to that, great cookbook, includes some supernatural events.
P.S. Kite Runner was my first novel...awesome(civil war, friendship etc) 10/10. Like water for chocolate is totally different that it but i will rate it 10/10 too.
Reply:Anything by Salman Rushdi, especially the "Satanic Verses" and the "Moor's Last Sigh"
Reply:Try Youngblood Hawke, by Hermann Wouk..an oldie but a goodie
Reply:Memoirs is one of my fave books too, I also enjoyed:
Poisonwood Bible - Barbara Kingsolver
East of Eden - John Steinbeck
Prince of Tides - Pat Conroy
Beach Music - also Pat Conroy
Or at least those the ones with some historical background to them. Hope this helps! If you choose East of Eden, just to warn you the first few chapters are hard to get through. But if you stick with it, I guarantee it will be more than worth it!
