What is the definiton of internal and external conflict?

I am reading the novel White Oleander and need to determine whether the conflict is internal or external.

What is the definiton of internal and external conflict?
Internal Conflict-occurs when the protagonist struggles within himself or herself. The protagonist is pulled by two courses of action or by differing emotions, which frequently leads to a dynamic change in the character.

External Conflict-dispute between the protagonist and another character or nature
Reply:exactly what she the girl on top of me said.
Reply:Internal conflict is like when you really want to eat a piece of cake but you really don't want to break your diet...external conflict is when someone else eats your cake and you tell them off.
Reply:Internal conflict is conflict inside the mind or what you are thinking. External conflict is physical conflict or outside the body.
Reply:i read the book and the woman is crazy, and its internal conflict, its all in her mind, i juat felt sorry for her child, she just had a love affair that didnt go right for her and now she out to destroy men. when you finish the book, rent the movie.
